The Blessings of Family 12/09/2010
![]() God puts a great emphasis on marriage in the Bible. The family is the building block of society. If you destroy the Biblical family then you destroy the society and eventually bring in a tyrannical civil government that punishes what God calls good and rewards what God calls evil. We must preserve the government of family at all costs. The husband must play his role well as a leader and provider for his family (Proverbs 31:23, 1 Timothy 5:8). The wife must play her God given role well as she “looks well the ways of her household (Proverbs 31:27, Galatians 5:22-25).” The children must obey their parents according to the laws of God (Eph. 6:1). God commands his people to be fruitful and multiply for the purpose of filling the earth, subduing it, and taking dominion over it (Genesis 1:28, 2:24,25, 9:1, Matthew 28:18-20). Biblical marriage must be honored if Christians are to bring forth Godly children (Malachi 2:14-16) that will be mighty in the land for Jesus Christ (Psalm 78:5,6). Jesus repeats what He says in Genesis 2 that a man will leave his parents and cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh (Matthew 19:5,6, Mark 10:6-8). Biblical marriage makes people more responsible and less selfish. He that finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor of the LORD (Proverbs 18:22). Some Apostles were married (1 Corinthians 9:5) and the Apostle Paul says to avoid fornication, every man should have his own wife and every women have her own husband (1 Corinthians 7:2). This is important because no fornicator will inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9,10). Paul says bishops and elders are a good thing to desire. One qualification is that they must be the husband of one wife and rule his household well (1 Timothy 3:2,4,12). Children are a blessing from the LORD (Psalm 127:3) and a husband and wife are to disciple them when they get up, throughout the day and when they go to bed (Deuteronomy 6:7). God gives the government of family, specifically the father, to use the rod of correction in disciplining his children (Proverbs 13:24, 22:15). The father is not to provoke his children to anger but to train them up in the nurture and admonition of the LORD (Eph. 6:4, Col. 3:18-21). CommentsLeave a Reply |
