Last night my friends and I went downtown Richmond and lifted up our voices to declare that there is another King, one Jesus (Acts 17:7)!  We began with prayer and then proceeded to read the Bible over the loud speaker for a while.  We talked to Christians and encouraged them in their faith and obedience to the Great Commission.  As usual the high school age kids come around to mock and laugh.  Some of them listened.  I preached the law to the proud but gave grace to the humble.  I did open air preaching for about an hour and that stirred up many conversations that lasted into the night.  My friends and I were confronted by a man who did not like that method of confronting sinners head on in their sin.  He said that we might "push" them away from Jesus.  I told him the Bible teaches that men will not stop resisting the Gospel until Christ opens their eyes to see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3).  We rely on God to save people according to the promise of Christ when he said, "All that the Father gives shall come to me, and him who comes to me I will in no wise cast out (John 6:37)."  I am glad that the salvation of men does not depend upon me but totally on the Sovereign will of God (Eph. 1:11).  Jesus is the one who comes to seek and save that which is lost (Luke 19:10).  He uses the "foolishness of preaching to save them that believe (1 Cor. 1:21)."  We passed out tracts and later saw a man run by after he had stolen money from a girl that was playing guitar on the street!  We ended the night after that.

Today I went downtown Richmond to the Ukrops 10K race.  Thousands upon thousands of people were there.  My friend and I used a speaker to proclaim Law and Grace to the crowds for almost three hours.  We preached on the Ten Commandments.  We preached the cross of Jesus and the substitutionary atonement.  We preached about Biblical marriage and family.  We declared that only God distinguishes right from wrong.  Only God defines what criminal behavior is.  Only God determines what is just punishment for that criminal behavior.  We magnified the greatness of our Prophet, Priest and King, Jesus Christ.  Praise God for the freedoms we still have in the USA to preach the Gospel in the open air.  Glory be to God!

The civil government needs to heed the words of the Great Lawgiver (Isaiah 33:22), the Lord Jesus Christ, when he said,
"For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death (Matthew 15:4)."  The is a case when the child has gone beyond the control of the family government and needs to be punished no longer by the rod (Proverbs 22:15), but by the sword (Romans 13:1-7).
A 17-year-old girl was charged Friday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and battery after deputies say she pulled a gun on her mother during an argument.

Rachel Anne Hachero was upset because her mother wouldn't co-sign on a vehicle purchase, according to a Lee County Sheriff's Office report.

The Bible does not condemn wine or strong drink, nor does it forbid God’s people to use them.  It specifically says that God provided them for us to enjoy for his glory.

Wine that makes glad the heart of man (Psalm 104:15).

He will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine (Deut. 7:13, 11:14, 14:26, 28:39).

And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheers God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees (Judges 9:13)?

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine… Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that are of heavy hearts.  Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more (Proverbs 3:10, 31:6,7).

And the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which you have labored (Isaiah 62:8).

The following verses show that there cannot be a 1000-year gap between the return of Christ and the final judgment.  When Jesus returns for the second time there will be one resurrection and one judgment for the just and the unjust and then comes the end.

The Apostle Paul says there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust (Acts 24:15).  You might then say that he is talking about the two separate judgments, one before the millennium and one after the millennium.  But lets continue on and see if there is room for a thousand year gap.

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland — The speaker of Maryland's House vowed that Democrats would try again next year to pass legislation legalizing homosexual marriage, but the intense lobbying by faith groups against the measure in recent weeks shows that it won't be easy, even in a state known for its liberal politics.

A loose coalition of Democratic legislators failed to cobble together enough votes to overcome opposition from Republicans and religious groups, including the Catholic church and many black congregations, to make Maryland the sixth U.S. state to legalize homosexual marriage.

Flyers posted recently in villages around Laos described Christians as dishonest and immoral traitors. The flyer’s writer accused Christians of being political tools who convert others for financial gain. He wrote, “Christianity … has the purpose to brainwash society. It has the purpose to get rid of other religions and other cultures opposing Christianity. Every teaching of Jesus Christ is related to what the Americans teach one another to follow.”

More Blasphemy-related Violence, This Time in Ethiopia

The government sent the federal police force to protect Christians after the destruction of first three churches, but the mobs overwhelmed the police force and burned down two more churches. The violence reportedly spread to Chiltie, Gilgel Gibe, Gibe, Nada, Dimtu, Uragay, Busa, and Koticha, and as of yesterday had not stopped. Compass Directreports that in the last five days as many as 59 churches have been destroyed, one Christian has been killed, and several thousand have been displaced.

By refusing to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), by calling it “legally indefensible,” by inventing a new constitutional doctrine (i.e., that sexual orientation is a protected class) never accepted by the Supreme Court, by rejecting controlling Supreme Court precedent in Baker v. Nelson on marriage, by nakedly politicizing the Justice Department, by nationalizing the marriage question and forcing major GOP leaders and presidential candidates to act, President Obama is not only helping build up a national marriage movement — he has actually made it far more likely the Supreme Court will ultimately vote to uphold DOMA.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia took a big step Thursday toward eliminating most of the state's 21 abortion clinics, approving a bill that would likely make rules so strict the medical centers would be forced to close, Democrats and abortion rights supporters said.

Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican and Catholic, supports the measure and when he signs it into law, Virginia will become the first state to require clinics that provide first-trimester abortions to meet the same standards as hospitals. The requirements could include anything from expensive structural changes like widening hallways to increased training and mandatory equipment the clinics currently don't have.
