I. Outline and Chronicle the Many Providences of God

Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. (Hab. 33:2)
First, using simple bullet points, outline the key events for every week of every month of the year. Take the time to do the research which will help jog your memory and allow you to make an accurate record. I find that reviewing bills, blogs, journals, newspaper headlines, letters, and even organizing my photographs chronologically are enormously helpful tools. Those individuals who were faithful to journal or keep a diary will have little problem reconstructing key events. Give yourself a good week to reconstruct your own outline of the year. Also, by making this a family project, you will not only build your list with greater speed and precision, but (in the hands of a loving patriarch) the very act of chronicling the providences of God in your life is a blessed tool for family discipleship.

Every family will have a different set of priorities directing what they should record. In addition to recording the key events and providences of the year chronologically, I try to take the time with my family to record some of the following information on separate bullet lists:

  1. Where did I/we travel?
  2. What were the most important sermons I heard this year?

One of the oldest struggles in the history of the world has been the war against the womb and godly seed, spurred on by Satanic and man-centered idolatry. From the pagan god Molech on whose altar children were sacrificed in ancient times to Margaret Sanger's vision in the twentieth century for creating the perfect race through mass contraception and abortion, the war against the sanctity of human life by the culture of death has waged on unabated. In this powerful message, Doug Phillips surveys the history of this struggle and demonstrates how today's Church has fallen prey to the wiles of selfish idolatry. His prescription: God's people must humbly repent of their sins, embrace children as a blessing, assent to God's creation order and design, honor the unity of marriage, and trust in God's sovereignty to open and close the womb.

It is important to have a Christian calendar where we can make a point to remember certain things.  In the Bible God told his people to build memorials so as time went on they would look at these and remember what God had done.  If we remember the providences of God in the past we can be confident he will be there in the future.  We as Christians are commanded to take every thought captive (2 Cor. 10:4,5).  And if we take thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ then the behavior will follow.  We should defend the crown rights of King Jesus even in the area of our holidays (holy-days).  Why should we let the pagans celebrate things for evil.  Yeah, sure, some only talk about Santa Claus around Christmas but we will celebrate God becoming man to save his people from their sins.  Yeah, sure, some celebrate eggs and bunnies on Easter.  But we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  Whether we eat, drink, or celebrate birthdays, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Independence Day, etc. or whatever, do it all to glory of God.  Since King Jesus has ALL authority and ALL power in EVERY area of life (Matthew 28:18-20) we as Christians must declare that, even when the world perverts what God calls good.  We are here on this earth to take dominion (Genesis 1:28) and occupy until Jesus returns (Luke 19:13) not surrender everything to Satan.  Remember the earth is the LORD's (Psalm 24:1).  So next time you are afraid to go near something that pagans have perverted take the advice of that great missionary in the 800's, Boniface, "Run toward the roar, for that is where Christ shall obtain his victory!"

Let's remember this CHRIST-mas that JESUS is reason for the season.  When the angel came to Mary he said, "his name shall be called JESUS, for he shall save his people from their sins."  "For unto to us a child is born, for unto us a son is given, he shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end..."  Let's remember as we look upon those little manger scenes that that is because "I have sinned against God.  I have broken the commandments of God."  God the Son himself chose to come down born of virgin, sinless, fully-man and fully-God, in Bethlehem to live a life of total obedience to God's Law.  Because we haven't.  He came to be put to death and be crushed under God's wrath to pay the debt that we cannot pay.  That is why we need a Savior.  Thankfully, we can celebrate "this day in the city of David a Savior is born, CHRIST the LORD."  Amen!  We don't have to die and go to hell because that little baby was born in Bethlehem.  We can now live to the glory of God in obedience to his law because that little baby was born in Bethlehem.  Now we are set free from the law of sin and death in order that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us.  I end this blog entry with the words of the angels sent to the shepherds: Glory to God in the Highest, and peace on earth, good will to men!"

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, "hatred is not a family value."  Along with this sticker was a bunch of other stickers promoting ungodly and perverted relationships.  Usually statements like these are meant to neutralize Christians into apathy so the wicked can continue in their wicknessness with no accountability.  But let's Apply the Bible to this statement and see what happens.  Hatred in itself is not a bad thing.  It is the object that you direct your hatred toward that can make hatred good or bad.  Let's take a look at what God says in the scriptures about hate.

  • Ye that love the LORD, HATE evil (Psalm 97:10).
  • Through your precepts I get understanding: therefore I HATE every false way (Psalm 119:104)
  • I esteem all your precepts concerning all things to be right; and I HATE every false way (Psalm 119:128).
  • I HATE and ABHOR lying: but your law do I love (Psalm 119:163).
  • The fear of the LORD is to HATE evil: pride, arrogance, the evil way, and a perverted mouth do I Hate (Proverbs 8:13).
  • These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).

So we see that God hates evil and commands his people to hate evil.  Now the question is, "what is evil?"  Who are the evildoers?  God has instituted civil government to punish evildoers that break God's laws that have sanctions.  But we as individuals (self-government) are to love our personal enemies.  God always speaks of nations and civil affairs in terms of justice.

Evil is defined by the Law of God found in the Holy Bible.  Breaking God's commands are evil such as worshipping false gods, blasphemy, dishonoring parents, murder, sexual sin such as adultery, sodomy, bestiality, etc., lying, stealing, coveting what God doesn't want you to have, etc.  So we need to understand that as Christians we are to hate what our Creator hates and love what our Creator loves.  And since his law is an expression of his character and nature we must also love and obey his law.

Evolutionists say mutations sometimes become resistant to antibiotics (germ-killing drugs).  And so, the argument goes, “If mutations can make bacteria stronger, they must be able to do the same for other creatures.”  Dr. Spetner points out that this is based on a misunderstanding, for the mutations that cause antibiotic resistance still involve information loss.  For example, to destroy a bacterium, the antibiotic streptomycin attaches to a part of the bacterial cell called ribosomes.  Mutations sometimes cause a structural deformity in ribosomes.  Since the antibiotic cannot connect with the misshapen ribosome, the bacterium is resistant.  But even though this mutation turns out to be beneficial (for the moment), it still constitutes a loss of genetic information, not a gain.  No “evolution” has taken place; the bacteria are not “stronger.”  In fact, under normal conditions, with no antibiotic present, they are weaker than their non-mutated cousins.  (Case Against Darwin. Chapter 2) An example would be if someone is going through town hand cuffing people to hall them off to kill them and you don’t have any arms.  They can’t handcuff you.  So you survive the purge.  Well it might be beneficial for the moment, but it’s still a loss of information.  As soon as you’re back into the population with armed people your going to be at a disadvantage.

Evolutionists say beneficial mutations are the key to making macroevolution work.  But the funny thing is, is that there is no such thing as a beneficial mutation.  All there examples they use such as the bacteria becoming resistant, people born with sickle-cell anemia are less likely to get malaria, and cockroaches becoming resistant to pesticides is all loss of information.  Having more of the same DNA is not beneficial.  Having more of anything in an organism is not beneficial.  It is not the amount of genetic information that makes a mutation beneficial but rather if it has created new information.  “Mutations are essential to evolution theory, but mutations can only eliminate traits. They cannot produce new features.”  (Refuting Evolution, p.101)“Adaptation and natural selection are biological facts; amoeba-to-man evolution is not.  Natural selection can only work on the genetic information present in a population of organisms—it cannot create new information.  For example, since no known reptiles have genes for feathers, no amount of selection will produce a feathered reptile.  Mutations in genes can only modify or eliminate existing structures, not create new ones.”

First. By armour is meant Christ.  We read of putting on the Lord Jesus Christ, Ro. Xiii. 14.

Christian in Complete Armour by William Gurnall

A soul out of Christ is naked and destitute of all armour to defend him against sin and Satan
First.  It is a state of alienation from God: ‘Ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenant of promise,’ etc. Eph ii. 12.

Second.  The Christless state is a state of ignorance, and such must needs be naked and unarmed.  He that cannot see his enemy, how can he ward off the blow he sends?

Third. The Christless state is a state of impotency.  ‘When we were without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly,’ Ro.v.6.
Fourth. The state of unregeneracy is a state friendship with sin and Satan.

There are nearly 100 volumes of his writings.  The Book “The Maxims of George Washington,” written in 1855, has many friends declaring he was a Christian.  His adopted daughter, Nelly, said that you should question his patriotism before you question his Christianity.  In 1926 a book came out about how Washington was godless and immoral.  That book has no footnotes.  Up until 1926 nothing was written bad about Washington.  George Washington uses 54 different names, out of the Bible, he uses for God in his writings.  He fought to end slavery.  He lived in a state that did not allow him to set them free.  He signed the first federal anti-slavery law.  He treated his servants as if they were family.  We came within one vote for Congress to abolish slavery.  He recruited blacks to fight.  Lemuel Haynes was a black pastor that took up arms against the British.  He even preached a special sermon about Washington after the war.  Washington was not a Unitarian.  He was an Episcopal.  The Unitarian church was not founded in America until 1818, nineteen years after his death.

This shows that we as Christians must know our source of law is the Bible alone.  "The LORD is our judge, the LORD is our King, the LORD is our LAWGIVER...(Isaiah 33:22)."  "We must obey God rather than man (Acts 5:29)."  Yes we are to obey the governing authorities but only if they obey their authority.  God!  If the civil government comes to us and tells us to disobey the Bible.  We must never obey.  This article shows what can happen when Christians withdraw themselves from politics and leave the pagans to come in with all the power to persecute Christians.  Wake up Christians and obey Christ.  Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be done on EARTH as it is in heaven.  That also means his will be done in the civil sphere according to his law written in the Bible.
